🥘 Culture in Your Kitchen – Patatas Bravas with Smoky Aioli

Spain’s most iconic tapas dish — crispy golden potatoes with a bold, smoky sauce.
It’s a Barcelona bar favorite, and it never fails. Easy, crowd-pleasing, and perfect for a tapas night at home.

🥔 Ingredients (Serves 3–4)

For the potatoes:

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes

  • Olive oil for frying or roasting

  • Sea salt

For the smoky aioli (bravas sauce):

  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (or regular paprika if unavailable)

  • 1 tsp garlic (minced or crushed)

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt to taste

  • Optional: a small pinch of chili flakes for heat

🔥 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F) or heat oil in a frying pan.

  2. Toss potatoes with olive oil and salt. Roast for 30–35 mins (or fry until crisp).

  3. Mix the aioli sauce: combine mayo, paprika, garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil. Stir until smooth.

  4. Serve: drizzle sauce generously over the crispy potatoes or serve on the side for dipping.
